Wet on Wet Painting Kits

Wet-on-wet watercolour painting is a technique that uses thoroughly dampened watercolour paper, and good quality, diluted watercolour paints. It gives children and adults an opportunity to explore colour and blending, without being distracted or limited by form or fixed ideas.

Particularly when working with children it can be useful to tell a story evoking a beautiful, colourful image, a sunset or sparkling ocean for example.

It can also be beneficial to give the child’s brush a character, one who likes to glide or skate across the paper, to encourage the child to use broad smooth strokes. Their brush person might be fond of having it’s hair washed too, thus keeping the paint colours separate in their posts!

Stockmar Watercolour Paints are known for their natural transparency and light fastness. The colours follow Goethe’s Theory of Colours. Each tone can be mixed well with the others. Harmonious gradation and boundary-less colour blending are possible when using the wet-on-wet technique.
Stockmar Watercolour Paints have been tried and tested in art education, at school and kindergarten.
